Kriyative Theatre is presenting two of its popular Kannada comedies at Ranga Shankara on August 11 and 12. ‘Ratnan Parpancha’ will be staged on August 11 and ‘Gundayana’ on August 12. Both the shows are at 7.30 pm.

‘Ratnan Parpancha’ is based on the life and works of Kannada writer, GP Rajaratnam. The show includes anecdotes from the life and works of the author, some of his songs and the short comedy ‘Kambliseve’. Scripted by Laxmi Chandrashekar and Sundar, who also play the lead, the play is directed by Joseph. ‘Gundayana' is based on the novel ‘Chakradrushti’, written by well-known Kannada humourist, Na Kasturi, ‘Gundayana’ is a unique comedy in which the protagonist himself never appears on stage. These ten characters are played by just two actors, Sundar and Laxmi Chandrashekar.

Gundayana   has been adapted for the stage by Laxmi Chandrashekar and is directed by Joseph. With violinist HN Bhaskar playing Gajanana Naik’s tunes, the play offers an extraordinary fusion of various sorts. Added to this are Muddanna Shirahatti’s magical lighting and Ramakrishna Kannarapadi’s skillful make-up which make ‘Gundayana’ a rare treat.

Tickets, priced at Rs 100, are available at the venue and online on www.bookmyshow.com
