In a low scoring game, Dabang Delhi went down to Bengal Warriors 17-20 in its first home match of the season 2 of Pro KabaddiLeague on Saturday held at Thyagaraja Sports Complex.
A desperate bid by raider Kashiling Adake in dying moments to take the game was foiled by Bengal defenders who maintained composure and took
the match to leave the home crowd stunned. Delhi were leading 15-14 till 34 minutes.
But it again lost out the lead during dying moments and Bengal Warriors consolidated its lead first by a couple point raid and then snuffing out Dadaso Balaso Awad's raid.
Leading 17-15 with three minutes remaining on the clock, Warriors took decisive three point lead to go 18-15 up.
K Selvamani's strong raid cut Warriors' lead to a single point. But the Warriors played the time to perfection, playing empty raids and ran the clock down.
The home team though went in to halftime leading by a single point 9-8. It started out better, Rohit Chaudhary making a successful raid for the team after the defenders tackled Jang Kun Lee of Warriors.
However, the Warriors took the lead by the 8th minute. Delhi came back into the contest, Kashiling dodging Vijin Thangadurai's forward press, taking 7-5 lead by the 15th minute.
A super tackle (2 points) by Sachin Khambe brought Warriors back in the 18th minute, cutting Delhi's lead to a point.
In the second half a super tackle on Rohit Chaudhary during the 27th minute also brought the Warriors back from 10-12 down.
"In the end super tackles cost us the match. Also, I believe the defensive lapses during key moments left us stranded" said Dabang Delhi Coach Honappa C. Gowda.
