Naked body dumped in vacant plot

23-year-old raped, then strangled, alleges family

The naked body of a 23-year-old woman, who was working with an NGO in Rajouri Garden, was found near an empty plot next to an old temple in North West Delhi’s Aman Vihar area, police said.

Her family suspects that she was raped and strangled. Police are investigating this.
The body bears strangulation marks.”There are some marks on the neck,”’ said a police officer.
The woman was reportedly about to get married.

According to her father, who is a steel factory worker, she didn’t come to home on Thursday night.
But he didn’t call her as he thought she might have stopped by at her elder sister’s house in Mahavir Enclave, which she often used to do.

“I came back home at 11 pm, and found that she was not at home. Initially I thought of confirming her location but then realised that she often stays at her sister’s house. So we thought last night also she might have done that,” said victim’s father, Alok Kumar.

When the woman didn’t reach home even in the morning, her father started to get worried and called his elder daughter.

His worries got worse when he found she hadn’t been at her home.
“When I called my elder daughter, I got to know that she had not gone to her sister’s house either. I started panicking when some children informed me that a body had been lying at a plot next to the Kali Mandir. I went there and saw that it was her only,” he said.

According to the Alok Kumar, there are some liquor shops around the area where drunkards roam around in the night and his daughter might have fallen prey to them.
Police is checking CCTV cameras at the NGO office where she was working and also examining her mobile phone details.
