The City police have banned sale of liquor on August 25, the day of counting votes for the Palike elections to ensure peace and harmony after the declaration of results.
“I have ordered for the closure of all liquor outlets in the City as there will be ban on the sale of liquor. The order will come into force from 6 am on Tuesday and will expire at 6 am on Wednesday,” City Police Commissioner N S Megharik said.
The supporters of winning and loosing candidates are likely to clash with each other after the announcement of results and hence prohibition order has been clamped. The ban order will come into force from midnight of August 25 and expire at midnight on August 27, he said.
Processions, burning effigies, carrying weapons and explosives, raising slogans and delivering inflammatory speeches have been banned.
