He later held an interaction with the residents of the colony who have been on an indefinite hunger strike for the last 15 days, in Sathihalli Gram Panchayat premises, demanding rights over the land where they have been living.

He told the protesters that an order has been issued to hold survey to ascertain if Survey No 52, where Dalit families are residing is a reveue land or forest land. If it is a revenue land, title deeds will be distributed, he said. “If it is forest land, then sites will be given to the residents in survey no 162,” he promised and urged them to withdraw the protest.

Responding to this, the residents said that they have been listening to same promise over the last 10 years but now they will not be swayed by any promise. “We do not want promises, we want action. Till we get an answer we will continue the protest,” they said and warned to lock the Taluk Office in case their demands are not fulfiled.
