3 auto projects worth Rs 2,500 cr in TN

 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced the setting up of three major industrial projects with a total investment of about Rs 2,500 crore.

Inagurating the Global Investors Meet (GIM) here, Jayalalithaa said that a new two-wheeler unit of India Yamaha Motor will be established in Kancheepuram district with a capacity of producing 1.8 million two-wheelers per annum and its nine vendor units with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore.

In addition, she also said that TICEL Bio-Park-II at Taramani in Chennai will also be constructed at a cost of Rs 168 crore and an investment of Rs 800 crore will be made towards the expansion unit of TVS Motor Company at Hosur.

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s many recent initiatives in creating a more investor-friendly climate and encouraging more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Jayalalithaa said, “This will also enthuse investors planning to invest in the States.”

Urging the Commerce and Industry Ministry to expedite any clearances that may be required at the Central Government level for investments proposed in GIM, Jayalalithaa also asked State for Road Transport Highways and Shipping Department to provide full support to various infrastructure projects under the Vision Tamil Nadu 2023.

Claiming that Tamil Nadu will become the most attractive investment destination in India and one of the three most attractive destinations in Asia, she said a total investment of $250 billion has been planned in the infrastructure sector.
