Four persons hurt as SUV carrying ganja rams into lorry

A speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided head-on with a lorry coming on NH-9, between Janatanagar and Hudagi hamlets of Humnabad taluk in the district, injuring four persons seriously on Monday afternoon.

Police found 140 kg of marijuana (ganja) packed in plastic bags and hidden between seats of the SUV. They seized the ganja worth about Rs 10 lakh.

The SUV was on its way to Nashik from Vijayawada.

Four persons, include a female passenger, in the SUV received injuries and were shifted to the general hospital in Humnabad.

 The injured are 45-year-old Tanajir Mohite, Anjana Jadhav (50), Lakhan Jadhav (32) and 30-year-old Vikram Jadhav, all residents of Talegaon locality in Nashik.

Two of the injured, who suffered fractures, were referred to the government hospital in Bidar, police said.

Police said that they would interrogate those travelling in the SUV once they are discharged from hospital.
