Speak to Goa CM on water dispute, BJP tells CM

Last Updated 02 October 2015, 20:14 IST

State BJP Unit President Pralhad Joshi has urged the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to fix an appointment with his Goa counterpart Laxmikant Parsekar at the earliest to find solution to the Kalasa-Banduri row.

Speaking to media persons, here on Friday, he said unless Siddaramaiah takes initiative in holding discussion with Goa chief minister on the Kalasa-Banduri project row, the Centre can’t do much as water is a state subject.

“Let us go to Goa and hold talks with the leaders of both BJP and Congress and convince them on the need to implement the project to provide drinking water to people of north Karnataka. In stead of doing this,  Siddaramaiah is blaming the Centre. This is ridiculous,” he said.

Referring to the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s proposed visit to the State, Joshi said that it should not be a flying visit. Before his arrival, the State government should waive farm loans and pay compensation to the family of the farmers who committed suicide.
