Australia govt has promised action: SMK

He added the Australian government had promised to take appropriate action against the attackers.

“The Indian government is in touch with Australia. They have assured us they will take action. We hope these aberrations that have taken place will be dealt with,” he said. A 25-year-old student was among the four Indians who were attacked by a group of
Australian teenagers with screwdrivers earlier this week in Melbourne.

Asked whether he was satisfied with the action taken by the Australian authorities, Krishna said one person had already been arrested in this connection. “We hope appropriate action will be taken to assuage the feelings of the Indian community,” he said.

On a bomb blast in Peshawar wherein over a dozen people were killed on Thursday, S M Krishna said India was closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan. “We are in constant touch with the Indian high commissioner in Pakistan... Our sympathies to whoever lost their lives in the bomb blast,” he added.

He said terrorism had to be condemned and checkmated. India is hopeful that Pakistan will respond to the it’s concerns in this regard.

Asked whether Karnataka getting four ministerial posts in the Union Cabinet would help revive the Congress party in the State, Krishna said the KPCC president would be the right person to reply.
