300 militants across LoC waiting to infiltrate: Army

The Army on Tuesday revealed that nearly 300 terrorists were ready to infiltrate into Kashmir Valley from launching pads across the Line of Control (LoC).

“Intelligence inputs suggest that around 300 militants are at various launch pads from Pakistan occupied Kashmir across the LoC waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate into our side,” General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Valley based 15 Corps, Lieutenant General O M Prakash told reporters here.

He said there is increased pressure on militants to infiltrate before the winter, adding sometimes they (militants) just cross the LoC, open fire and then go back.

The general termed ceasefire violation at LoC in Gurez sector on Monday, in which two soldiers were killed, as part of an effort of militants handlers across the LoC, to push ultras into the Valley.

“It (ceasefire violation) seems to be an attempt to infiltrate more terrorists before the onset of winter and snowfall along the LoC,” the GOC added.
