New Zealand rugby great Lomu dies aged 40

 New Zealand rugby legend Jonah Lomu died aged 40 here on Wednesday.
Lomu played 63 Test matches for the All Blacks in a celebrated career from 1994 through to 2002.

He burst onto the global stage at the 1995 Rugby World Cup when he scored seven tries in four matches, including four tries in the semi-final against England.

He had been diagnosed with a rare and serious kidney condition by 1996.
It forced him to quit the game and he had a kidney transplant in 2004, but the organ stopped functioning in 2011.

"We're all shocked and deeply saddened at the sudden death of Jonah. We're lost for words and our heartfelt sympathies go out to Jonah's family. Jonah was a legend of our game and loved by his many fans both here and around the world," said New Zealand Rugby chief executive Steve Tew in a statement.
