Pendency of files reduced in Udupi district, says DC Vishal

Deputy Commissioner Dr Vishal R said the district is able to process files in stipulated time to reduce the pendency rate, despite the staff crunch in Revenue Department.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Dr Vishal said the district stands first in delayed disposal category in Sakala with nearly 11,804 files processed for 19,749 times. Most of the delayed disposals fall in the category of 1-3 days delay.

He added that the files are related to court cases and other issues. Besides, the district also stands fourth in the position in Sakala and eighth in Bhoomi respectively.The district has plans to go reach the top position in Sakala and Bhoomi and is working in this direction. He added that the district is in the first place in Atal Jana Snehi Kendra work.
 
As many as 385 revenue adalats were held as against the proposed 111 and 22,605 applications were received. Among them, 22,282 applications are disposed of. As many as 19,947 RTCs  were amended, he said. 

He added that land acquisition process is speed up and the applicants are awarded 400 times extra the guidance value as per the new Land Acquisition Act. As many as 271 files are cleared for arbitration, he said. The deputy commissioner stated that 546 permits are issued, rejected or recommended for modification of time in eight RTO sittings held till date.

Dr Vishal added that 72 files are disposed of on each working day on an average. He added that petitioners are given relief immediately with only 2 to 2.5 months old pendency.

Land granted
About 279.85 acres of land are granted for various proposes, he said and added that 36 acres of land have been earmarked for housing and also for Coastal Security Force. He added 222 acres of land have been reserved for Varahi Irrigation Project. He said priority will be on public purpose grant as against the individual land grant.

The deputy commissioner stated that Rs 7.30 crore is given away as relief package, of which 49 lakh is compensated with house damages.

As many as 2,317 cases have been received for NA (Land conversion) related to 367.92 acres and Rs 83,15,231 is collected. Emphasizing on infrastructural development, Dr Vishal said Rs 66 crore is earmarked for the water supply, Bhojana Shale and UGD in Kollur. He added construction works, taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore, will be completed by the year-end.

Recruitment of VAs
Dr Vishal said 48 village accountants (VAs) have been appointed and the process to recruit 49 civic labourers is under way. He added that the present 25 vacancies in addition to the pending nine vacancies in the Revenue Department will affect the work more. 

The deputy commissioner  said a road will be laid as instead of the proposed bypass bridge at Padubidri Junction.

He added that phodi-free village campaign will be taken up. Five villages are considered in each taluk in a phased manner. Fifteen agriculture related accidental cases have been received. Among the four farmer suicide cases, one has been accepted for compensation, deputy commissioner  added.
