DRDO signs MoU with private firm

Novel Tissue Private Limited and Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, an unit attached to Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). As per the agreement, the city-based Novel Tissue will manufacture skin decontamination wipes.

The wipes are handy during accidental or intentional release of radiological contaminations that may cause external contamination on the skin. Such that, water may also get contaminated, posing hurdles for removing the contamination.

Rakesh Sharma from the DRDO told media, “It took three years to develop the technology. It will prove helpful against ‘Shudhika,’ a type of wipe being used at present. The disadvantage with Shudhika was, one needed the help of paramedical staff to dispose it.”

Assistance not required
“While the new wipe doesn’t require the assistance of anybody. After making much needed changes by value addition, it will be dispatched for army and para-military purposes, the main beneficiaries,” he added.


Doddamani of Novel Tissue and H V Bhatra Director of Defence Food Research Limited (DFRL) were present on the occasion.
