NIA files charge sheet in Kohima firing

In a major development in the ongoing National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into insurgency in the North-East, the NIA on Monday has filed a charge sheet in the special court in Nagaland’s Dimapur charging three people including two top NSCN-K leaders in the firing incident near the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Nagaland’s capital Kohima on March 26 last where four Assam Rifles troopers were seriously injured. 

According to a NIA press statement, the agency has filed a charge sheet charging three accused persons Ranjit Thapa alais Karan, Khekaho Rochill, the self-styled finance secretary of the NSCN (K) and Kisheto Ayem, self-styled Majorand  town commander for committing offences under sections 120-B read with302, 307, 326 of IPC, sections 4 & 5 of Explosive Substances Act, section 25 (1) (B) of Arms Act and section 16,18,20 & 23 of UA (P) Act.

­After a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directive, the NIA statrted probing the incident. Meanwhile, in yet another success , NIA sleuths nabbed two hardcore members of the NDFB(S) – LankeswarBoro alias  Langtha Boro alias B Laswi and Santosh Kherkatary alias K Simang.
