State issues DD for Rs 5 cr to TN as flood relief
The Karnataka government has issued a demand draft for Rs five crore to the deluge-hit Tamil Nadu on Sunday, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said on Monday.

The relief amount, which was earlier “declined” by the neighbouring government, has, however, been accepted, he said. The State has sought further assistance from Karnataka, he said.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, Jayachandra said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had instructed the federation to also dispatch Goodlife milk and milk powder to Tamil Nadu.

Arrangements are also being made to send across 50,000 blankets. He said there was confusion over where exactly the relief material should be dispatched.

“Our team of officials headed by the chief secretary and additional chief secretary will, however, be monitoring the distribution process over there. We will hand over the material to whoever they ask us to,” he said.

When asked about Tamil Nadu’s rejection of the relief amount earlier, Jayachandra said the money had not been declined, but the State had indicated to Karnataka that it would ask for assistance when it was in need.
