Two killed, five injured in road accident

Two students were killed and five others suffered injuries after a speeding teenager lost control of the car he was driving and rammed into a tree in Budigere near Vijaypur on Saturday afternoon.

According to the police, the victims have been identified as S Kiran, 18, a resident of Kattagollahalli and Charles, 19. Kiran was a first year PU student of Silicon City PU College, KR Puram, and Chalres was studying at Chaitanya PU College.

The injured have been identified as Avinash, Jayakumar, P Kiran Kumar, Shrinivas Bhat and Manikantha, all students of Silicon City PU College. They were rushed to a nearby hospital at Bhattarahalli and are receiving treatment.

They are said to be out of danger, said the police. The incident occurred at around 11.45 am when the students were travelling to Nandi Hills in Kiran’s car.

Kiran, who was driving the car, started speeding near Budigere, lost control of the vehicle near KPTCL office and rammed into a roadside tree.  Kiran who was driving and Charles, who was sitting next to him, were killed on the spot, while the others suffered serious injuries.

The police suspect that the car was running at a speed of more than 100 kilometre per hour when the accident occurred. A total of eight students were travelling in the car. The identity of one other person is not yet known, the police said.
