Fourth edition of Pinkathon on Jan 31

The fourth edition of SBI Pinkathon, powered by Women’s Horlicks, will be organised in the City on January 31.

Avid barefoot runner and Pinkathon founder Milind Soman announced the launch of the fourth edition run in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Reema Sanghavi, managing director, Maximus Events, said, “We begin 2016 with Bengaluru Pinkathon. SBI Pinkathon will be held in seven other cities – Hyderabad, Chennai, Guwahati, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune – besides Bengaluru.”

“The national event has received overwhelming support with over 60,000 women of all ages and from different walks of life from eight cities in 2015. The campaign will be supported with an integrated communication plan which includes several pre-event activities like training runs for baby wearing mothers, first time women runners and cancer survivors. There will also be an extensive online campaign to reach out to people and help the movement grow,” she said.

Milind Soman said Pinkathon is more than a Marathon. “It is the seed of change and the beginning of a movement that is carried forward by a growing community of women across India, who share a belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with empowered women. The first step in empowerment is taking control of your own health, respecting yourself and understanding and celebrating the value you bring to your family and society. Empowerment is not a gift of society, it is a gift you give yourself,” he said.

Roshini Kumar, 22-year-old cancer survivor was announced as the mascot for the 3-km run and Nagarathna R Bhat, a visually impaired runner, was announced as the mascot for the 5 km run and RJ Disha from Red FM for the Volini 10-km run.
