The Ashok Nagar police have arrested a 16-year-old boy for making a hoax call to a private school claiming that a bomb was planted on the campus premises.

According to the police, the class 10 student made a phone call from a phone booth to a school in Ashok Nagar on December 7 saying that the bomb would explode any moment. On receiving the call, a bomb disposal team rushed to the area and after a thorough search, declared that it was a hoax call.

The boy told the police that he made the call to take revenge because students from the other school had made fun of his school and told him that everyone in his school were ‘dumb’. He made the threat call to prove a point and teach the other school a lesson, the police said. When the police carried out an investigation, they found that the minor had made the call from a nearby phone booth. The owner of the booth was quizzed and he recollected that a boy in school uniform made the call on December 7.

The police rounded up a few students and one of them confessed to have made the call, added the police.A senior police officer said that the identity of the student cannot be revealed because he is a minor.
