In the busy lanes and crowded streets of Punjabi Bagh, the big M-shaped sign board of the newly-opened Lounge and Bar Mafia, shines bright from a distance.

On entering the three-storey building, a beautiful passage of lights takes us to a fine dining area. Keeping up with its concept, the place maintains a dark environ.

Dim yellow lights, shiny silver couches, quotes from The Godfather on the walls and loud music, adds on to the dramatic and appealing set up.

The second floor opens into a club setting which has room for DJs, private bands and karaoke nights. There is a personal dining chamber which is also named ‘The Godfather’ and is given a royal look with vintage furniture and arsenals.

On climbing towards the third floor, Metrolife noticed a selfie wall with graffiti. The stairs further took us to the terrace named ‘Moroccan Mafia’. Bright pink, red and blue with quirky sitting arrangements, the walls covered with paintings and graffiti made the area stand out among the entire Mafia world.

It was interesting to see how each floor of the building has been designed differently to give visitors varied experiences. Had it not been a chilly night, we would have loved to enjoy our meal in the open air. Nevertheless, we decided to take our seat on the first floor on a big, comfortable couch.

Apart from the walls and the chamber, the food menu too was filled with intriguing pictures and dialogues of The Godfather.

The menu offers a mix of various cuisines including Indian, Mexican, Italian and Chinese. It comprises, huge list of appetisers which are not served by many restaurants in the city. But what might catch attention are the fascinating names of dishes like Bite the Bullet, Sam Sings in The Night, Jackie The Lackie, Gangster of Love, Two Guns, The Professor, Sin City and more.

We opted to go with

Gangster of Love which was actually a spring roll. We also ordered some fresh Virgin Mojito which had a satisfying taste. Filled with mozzarella, cheddar cheese and vegetables, served with spicy mayo, the crispy affair made us fall in love with it.

From their Pizzas and Naanzas section, we gave Chicken Nanza a try. The dish was more like a pizza, but with a twist. The base was our very own naan! A crispy base topped with chicken salami, raw onion and coriander, Chicken Nanza is a must try.

From the vegetarian section, we picked Paneer Tikka Quesadilla. The dish was served on a wooden bench which earned it some extra points for presentation. The corn tortilla filled with rich paneer tikka and mango sauce definitely got a ‘thumbs up’ from us.

Bang Bang Fish was our next order. Slabs of fish tossed in chilli sauce were spicy. The juicy fish pieces were, however, the best of what all we tried.  Savouring all these flavourful dishes, there was no space left in out tummy and so we gave the main course amiss. However, we saved some space for the deserts and ordered the Phirni.

The sweet dish, made out of rice flour, sugar, milk and dry fruits, is no less than what our mothers made for us. So make sure you give it a try whenever you head over to the place.
