Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh who is under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) scanner in the terror attack on Pathankot airbase is now facing bigamy charges.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Arora on Friday constituted a fact finding committee to probe the charges against Salwinder.

The controversial SP, meanwhile, has been summoned by the NIA to New Delhi on Monday and is likely to undergo a lie-detector test in the wake of the inconsistencies in his abduction theory by the terrorists a day before the strike.

A Tanda-based woman has levelled accusations of bigamy against Salwinder.

Dhanpreet Kaur, Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur (Punjab), has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the allegations and submit a report at the earliest.

The version of the SP who claims to have been abducted by the terrorists and later freed without injuries on New Year’s eve, remains shrouded with suspicious. The NIA had questioned him for long hours.

The abduction episode has left many questions unanswered.

The SP informed investigators that he had visited the Pir Baba shrine to pay obeisance even earlier.
