The Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express train was thoroughly checked at the Kalaburagi station for two hours on Friday evening for suspected explosives. It was ultimately allowed to proceed after no explosive was found on board.

The train arrived here at 6.45 pm and soon, the local police and the railway police, along with sniffer dogs and the bomb disposal squad, thoroughly checked the entire train consisting of nine coaches.

It all started when a retired BSF official travelling in C-3 coach informed the control room that he had seen a co-passenger with a bag in his coach. He suspected that the bag contained explosives.

The information was flashed on the wireless. When the train arrived at Wadi Junction about 50 km from here, the suspected passenger was taken into custody and questioned. His bag was thoroughly checked. When nothing was found and the credentials of the passenger from Nanded were established, he was let off. However, the train was again made to stop at Kalaburagi station, with security agencies thoroughly checking each and every baggage. The exercise lasted for two hours.
