The president of the Vedike, Anjaneya Reddy, in a press release has apprehended that the two districts of Kolar and Chikkaballapur would virtually be converted into desert in the absence of any irrigation project. Life could be sustained in the drought-hit districts only through an irrigation project and hence the Chief Minister should accord special priority in this behalf in the budget.

While successive governments have been neglecting implementation of the report, the Gundia and Upper Bhadra Projects are posing threat to the proposed irrigation facility to the two districts. The people may continue to live under perpetual water scarcity if the same situatin continued. A massive public movement has to be launched for the project  to prevail upon the government for implementing the report, the release said.
