<p> The first performance appraisal of the All India Services (AIS) officers of Karnataka cadre began on Monday. The exercise will cover close to 200 - IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service (IFS) officials who have completed 15 years and 25 years of service and those who have reached 50 years.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The appraisals are being done as per the AIS conduct rules (Death cum Retirement Benefits) amended in 2012. Appraisals are being done by a committee headed by Chief Secretary Arvind Jadav. <br /><br />“It was a preliminary meeting. It is difficult to expect any outcome as the committee will have to go by the record on files (Annaul Performance Appraisal Report),’’ a source said. Under the new rule, the government can ask the “inefficient” and “corrupt’’ officials to take compulsory retirement from service by giving three months notice.<br /><br /><br /></p>
