Now, use an app to locate nearest eToilet

Last Updated 24 February 2016, 21:02 IST

After commissioning around 75 eToilets, including 12 in Electronics City, the BBMP on Wednesday launched a mobile app, eToilets, that locates the nearest e-Toilet via a map and address listings.

Anvar Sadath K, CEO of a Kerala-based firm Eram Scientific Solutions, which designed the app and the toilets, said the app would also explain operations, provide information about napkin-vending machines, allow a user to share feedback and more.

Besides, it will help the corporation officials to collect usage statistics, health status, water condition, facilities available and generate reports. The authorities can thus smoothly address issues and resolve them within no time, he said. The app can be downloaded from the Google Playstore.

“We have introduced the unmanned and automated eToilet as a solution to the age-old toilet, plagued with issues like lack of cleanliness and manpower. These are made of stainless steel and are integrated with electronic systems to ensure cleanliness and hygiene for every user. Each toilet costs about Rs 5.6 lakh, which includes maintenance cost for two years,” he told reporters.

These eToilets comprise  automatic pre-flushing before entry, flushing after use and automatic floor cleaning at fixed intervals. It is equipped with a coin validater or coin entry, sensor-enabled exhaust fan and light, he added.
