Will expose maladministration in Hassan with documents: MLA

Last Updated 10 March 2016, 18:17 IST

Local politics seem to be reigning high in the district with leaders of both Congress and JD(S) trying to grab attention by blaming each other for the maladministration of the officials.

MLA H D Revanna, on Thursday, alleged that the district administration was politically influenced in utilisation of MP Local Area Development Fund.

Addressing a press meet, here, on Thursday, Revanna said, MP H D Deve Gowda had not wasted any funds and had allocated the total MPLAD funds for the construction of community halls in the district. But, the district administration has not approved any plans. Hence, the funds for the year 2013-14 and 14-15 have not been utilised.

“The Deputy Commissioner, who has to show interest, is not concerned. The situation is similar with the additional deputy commissioner and other officials. The district administration is also neglecting the MP’s Adarsha Grama Yojana. A letter would be written to the State and Central governments in this regard,” he said.

Canal works

Commenting on the allegations of Congress district unit president Shivaramu on the canal works, Revanna said, “I am not responsible for the substandard canal works, but it is the government which is responsible. I had earlier objected to the widening of the canal as it would not be of any help to the district. The people of Tumakuru had burnt my effigy for objecting the project,” Revanna added.

“The district in-charge minister should inspect the works and if they are found substandard, he should take action against the contractor. But the Congress leaders are indulged in the blame game. I have no role in awarding contract for the canal works. If I have the power to award a project worth Rs 650 crore, why do we need a minister or a chief minister? he questioned.

Session

Revanna said, he would expose the happenings in the district and the functioning of administrative machinery along with relevant documents in the session. The transfers in the district happens as per the wishes of the real estate mafia. I would also expose those who have looted the funds by submitting single tenders, he added.
