Probe sought into student's suicide case

Pragathipara Sanghatanegala Okkoota has demanded a probe into the suicide case of Chandan, a student of Sacred Heart College in Madantyar, who belonged to Yalagudige in Aldur, Chikkamagaluru.

Addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday, Chandan’s mother Veena said her son had gone to the school on January 6 after the vacation.

“On January 13, he had called on telephone and said he would come to his home again. But he did not disclose the details. On January 14, he came to  home after obtaining permission from the school principal. Later, he consumed poison and was admitted in a serious condition to Government Hospital at Aldur. The doctors referred him to KMC, Mangaluru. But, he breathed his last as the treatment was a failure,” she added.

“When inquired in the school, it was found that parents of a girl, with whom Chandan had friendship, threatened him after snatching his mobile phone,” Veena said and added that the incident made him take the extreme step. She requested the police to conduct an investigation.
