<p>Renuka Chidambaram, the IAS officer who did not rejoin duty after being posted to the UN mission in Sudan, has been declared ‘deemed to have resigned’ from July 1, 2013.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The Department of Personnel and Training issued a notification on Tuesday saying, "the President is pleased to direct that Renuka Chidambaram, a member of the Indian Administrative Service, borne on the cadre of Karnataka (KN:1985) is deemed to have resigned from the Indian Administrative Service with effect from 01.07.2013 in terms of rule 7(2)(c) of the All India Services (Leave) Rules, 1955".<br /><br />Section 7(2)(c) says an IAS officer shall be deemed to have resigned from the service if he or she “continues foreign service beyond the period approved.’</p>
