Break-in at administrative wing in Vidhana Soudha

Last Updated 11 April 2016, 20:27 IST

A break-in in the power corridors has come to light with suspicions that several important files pertaining to recruitments and staff service of the Legislative Council secretariat in the Vidhana Soudha first floor may have gone missing.

On Monday morning, the secretariat staff who returned to work after a long weekend noticed that the doors of the administrative wing and the locks of two almirahs in the section had been opened.

Under-secretary K C Prabhu immediately alerted his higher-ups that his office had been broken into and that important files could have been stolen.

Following this, Council Secretary V Shreesh has ordered an in-house inquiry into the matter.
He, however, said it was yet to established whether a theft had taken place and hence a police complaint had not been lodged.

Deputy Secretary K B Omprakash has been asked to conduct the preliminary inquiry and submit a report to the secretary on Tuesday.

If it is a theft case, then a police complaint will be lodged, said Shreesh. The Closed Circuit TV footages will also be reviewed, he added.
