The state government had on February 24 itself issued a government order sanctioning permission to file special leave petition in the Supreme Court challenging acquittal of Yeddyurappa, but had not acted on it.

However, soon after Yeddyurappa came back as the BJP state president, efforts are being made to expedite the legal process.

The order copy reads that the SLP will be filed in the Supreme Court against the High Court orders on behalf of the Lokayukta Police. The government has appointed advocate Joseph Aristotle S, who has also been authorised to engage the services of senior advocate Vikas Singh to appear for the state government.

The state public prosecutor has been asked to prepare the SLP and send it to advocate Aristotle with certified copies of the High Court orders and other connected papers.

Also, the chairman, Legal Cell,  Lokayukta has been asked to make arrangements to contact the public prosecutor along with the related documents.
