Think out of the box, students told

Children have a gala time at DHiE fest

Speaking at the valedictory programme of DHiE Fest 2009-10 here on Tuesday, he substantiated his claim by pointing out that Nobel Prize winners are always people who gave smart ideas. Confidence, Courage and hard work are essential for any one to come up in life, he said and added that working as a team would boost one’s confidence level and communicative ability.

Prof Aithal lauded Deccan Herald’s effort in improving the communicative skills and knowledge of the students through its ‘Newspaper in Education’ programme and added that students get additional exposure which gives them confidence to face life, through fests like the DHiE fest.

Earlier, Deccan Herald Bureau Chief Ronald Anil Fernandes encouraged the students to keep writing articles and send them to Deccan Herald. He urged them not to be dissuaded if the articles are not published, and assured them that their efforts will bear fruit some day.

Prof Aithal distributed prizes to winners of various competitions held as part of the fest. The competitions were judged by eminent personalities in each field and most of the time, the judges had a hard time adjudging the winners. The competition was very tough in all the events.

The group dance event, which was the last one, left most of the audience open mouthed with the kind of skill exhibited by the children. The fest was inaugurated in the morning by a student of Infant Jesus Joyland school Fathima Mehtab who celebrated here birthday on Tuesday.

Speaking at the valedictory, she thanked DHiE for giving her the most memorable birthday in her life. The Master of Ceremonies for the day was Vasanth from Red FM, who, with his inimitable style won the hearts of the children.

The witty questions and its responses were so overwhelming that the students were reluctant to go back with their escorting teachers. General Manager of The Printers (Mysore) Pvt Ltd Shivaram Krishna, AGM Nandakumar, Co-ordinators of the fest Manjunath Nisarga and Flavy were present at the valedictory ceremony.
