Chawla who was serving as Commissioner, Survey Settlement and Land Records, came at the receiving end of State Government Motor Drivers Central Association who had demanded action against the IAS officer for allegedly harassing his driver.
Chawla has now been transferred as Managing Director, Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation, Bangalore. Agitated drivers had resorted to a flash protest on January 29 a couple of days after Chawla’s driver attempted suicide and sought the stringent action against the officer.
