Man held for sexually assaulting girl

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man at an under-construction building in CK Achukkattu on Sunday.

According to the police, the suspect Suresh was arrested based on a complaint filed by the victim’s parents. On May 22, the victim, who is pursuing a diploma course in a private college, went near the building looking for her father, a plumber. Suresh, who found her near the building, told her that her father had gone out to buy construction materials and that he would return soon.

He asked her to sit inside the building as it was getting dark. When the victim went inside, he followed her and sexually assaulted her. She went back home and told her mother about the incident who in turn informed her father. The parents approached the CK Achukkattu police and filed a complaint based on which Suresh was arrested, said the police.

During interrogation, it was also found that Suresh had promised to marry the victim and sexually exploited her several times at his house and other places. Months later, he started ignoring her and the victim informed her parents about her relationship with Suresh.
