Bridge and Roof Limited (B&R), a government of India enterprise, is all set to make a foray into the infrastructure works sector in Bengaluru by constructing the four-lane steel flyover from Minerva Circle to Hudson Circle.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council on Tuesday passed a resolution in this regard. The estimated cost of the 2.35 km long flyover is Rs 135 crore. The project to ease traffic between Town Hall and Hudson Circle is in limbo for the last six years as no contractor had showed interest to take up the flyover work.
Recently, the BBMP floated a fresh tender but again it didn’t receive any response, compelling the civic agency to approach B&R.
Prior to the passing of the resolution, Mayor B N Manjunath Reddy explained to the opposition members that B&R is like KRIDL (Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited). “It undertakes major works across India. They have done exemplary work in West Bengal,” he said.
