The minister said that the BDA had received around 31,000 applications so far. Allotment process would be taken up as per the BDA norms and sites will be allotted on ‘seniority’ basis (based on the number of attempts).

BDA will be developing as many as 40,539 sites of various dimensions on 4043.27 acres of land acquired in 12 villages. In the first phase, BDA has spent around Rs 720 crore for the development of roads, drains, stormwater drains and other civic amenities.

In the second phase, works pertaining to electricity, water supply and sanitation will be taken up. Roads and parks would be taken up in the third phase. George said that landowners have been compensated with as many as 3,091 sites. The BDA has also planned 20,000 flats in 450 acres.

The minister also said that the six lakes in the layout will be developed in phases. Detailed project reports have also been prepared for setting up Kempegowda Bhavan, Kanaka Bhavan, Basava Bhavan, and Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan in the layout.
