Police said they had arrested a woman who, along with her paramour, murdered her husband of 22 years in a farm and dumped his body on the railway track near Kamasamudram in Kolar district.

Kadiramma, 42, was married to Venkataswamy, 50, and the couple have three children. The family lives in Nakkanayakanahalli village, Bangarpet taluk, Kolar district, and the couple worked as farmers. Some years ago, Kadiramma began an affair with Govindappa, 36, a neighbour and fellow farmer. Venkataswamy learnt about it and warned his wife, but she ignored him and continued the affair, often quarrelling with him, according to police.

On June 2, Kadiramma and Govindappa sneaked into a farm. Venkataswamy tailed them and found them in a compromising position.

He confronted Kadiramma who instigated Govindappa and they attacked Venkataswamy. He started to flee but they chased him down and stabbed him on the forehead. He got up and started running again. They chased him again and stabbed him to death.

To “mislead” the police, the duo dumped his body on the track near the Bisanattam railway station close to Kamasamudram. The jurisdictional Baiyappanahalli railway police registered a case of unnatural death and began investigation, a senior police officer told Deccan Herald.

Police suspected Kadiramma as her body language appeared “different”.Venkataswamy’s elder brother, Appayyappa, too suspected her. Meanwhile, police received a tip-off that Kadiramma and Govindappa had escaped to a neighbouring state.

A special team went after them and apprehended them at a border village on Wednesday. The officer said the duo had confessed to the murder as Venkataswamy was “interfering” in their affair. A court has remanded them in judicial custody.
