<p>Chikkamagaluru: People of Kurubaraboodihaal (K B) village — identified as a drought-hit area — conducted a marriage of frogs and took out a procession of donkeys to propitiate the rain god. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Though the monsoon has started in other areas, the village is yet to get showers. Hence, the senior leaders of the villagers decided to follow customs and appease Varuna, the god of rain. <br /><br />The village was decked up for the marriage of frogs on Thursday morning. A pandal was set up in front of the village temple and the premises was decorated with colourful buntings. People dressed up in new cloths were seen moving around in festive spirit.<br /><br />The parties of both the ‘bride’ and the ‘bridegroom’ were offered a rousing welcome. Women, holding auspicious ‘Kalasha’ walked to the temple premises in a procession. The marriage rituals were held as the music band played. <br /><br />Two young persons, who took the places of the relatives of the ‘bride’ and the ‘bridegroom’, caught hold of the frog couple as the senior leaders of the village and women offered milk and ghee, after sprinkling ‘Akshathe’. <br /><br />After offering a prayer, two donkeys were garlanded and taken on in a procession on the main road of the village. <br /><br />GP president Ananda and Taluk Panchayat Member Shubha Sathyamurthy took part in the wedding.<br /></p>
