In the next 18 months, the Bangalore Development Authority will hand over sites and flats in the proposed Kempegowda Layout coming up on the city outskirts to allottees.

Besides forming 10,000 plots of varied dimensions, the BDA will also construct 2,000 two- and three-BHK (bedroom-hall-kitchen) flats in Komaghatta, in Kempegowda Layout.

A senior official on condition of anonymity told Deccan Herald that board approval for this had already been obtained and tenders were called. As many as 448 3-BHK flats at a cost of Rs 184 crore, and two projects of 336 2-BHK flats at a cost of Rs 117 crore each will be constructed.

Apart from these, two more projects of 360 units in Vollagerahalli and 432 units in Kanminike are also coming up. But these are outside Kempegowda Layout.

The official said that it will take one-and-a-half to two years to complete the ready-to-occupy flats. Around the same time, allottees will be handed over sites. Since facilities are already available at the ready flats in Komaghatta, constructing flats will be easier and faster as resources will be shared. This infrastructure will be independent and different from the one set up for sites.

The BDA and government have set aside 450 acres for constructing flats. The BDA, in future, also plans to create gated communities in Kempegowda Layout. But this will be decided based on the success at their Alur project Nelamangala.

List of 5,000 sites

Following the BDA board meeting held on Wednesday, the first provisional list for 5,000 sites in Kempegowda Layout will be announced on Monday.

BDA chairman Mahendra Jain told Deccan Herald on the sidelines of the meeting that the provisional list will be announced after all administrative and technical procedures are over. By Monday, the first provisional list will be announced.

It will be after 13 years that Bengalureans will now have an opportunity to own a BDA site, after the failure of the ' jinxed' Arkavathy Layout. The list has been prepared based on the number of attempts, age and other reservations.

BDA commissioner Rajkumar Khatri said that earlier, it was announced that the provisional list will be put out on June 15, but it was held back because of technical reasons and committee problems. Now the committee was reconstituted and the provisional list is getting finalised. It will be made public by Monday and 15 days’ time will be given to people to file objections.
