Last Updated 04 July 2016, 19:00 IST

Mobile phones of three constables attached to the District Armed Reserve, who are suspected to have assisted a constable who protested during the ‘police strike’ on June 4, were seized on Monday.

Three constables were ordered to hand over their cellphones. While two constables had surrendered their phones, the phone of the other constable was seized after raiding his house.

SP Sudhirkumar Reddy told Deccan Herald that investigations against others indirectly involved in the protest are on.

DAR constable Ramakrishna had responded to the bandh call and had staged a lone protest on June 4. He was later suspended.

HC withdraws HM’s name
Meanwhile, the High Court on Monday withdrew Home Minister G Parameshwara’s name in a petition filed by Poornima Shashidhar, wife of V Shashidhar, who was arrested on
June 2 over the ‘strike’ called by the police.

Justice S Abdul Nazeer withdrew the Home Minister’s name after an emergent notice was ordered in his name earlier.

The bench directed the state government to file its objections in two weeks.
