Even the best can't escape being the 'worst' in Bollywood

Modelled on the Razzies that puts the spotlight on the worst of Hollywood, the nominations for the awards for last year’s worst are out, and among those in the shortlist are Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut, the best actress and best supporting actress at the recently announced 56th National Film Awards.
Chopra and Ranaut, who became National Film Awardees for their performance in “Fashion”, has been nominated in the “worst actor (female)” category for “What’s Your Rashee” and “Raaz 2.”

Giving them company are Kareena Kapoor (Kambakht Ishq), Deepika Padukone (Chandni Chowk to China) and Rani Mukherjee (Dil Bole Hadippa).
Salman Khan leads the pack in the “worst actor (male)” category by virtue of his performance in the hit “Wanted.” Others nominated are: Harman Baweja (What’s Your Rashee), Himesh Reshamiya (Radio), John Abraham (New York) and Emraan Hashmi (Tum Mile, Raaz 2).

In the “worst supporting actor (male)” category, the nominees are Hrithik Roshan (“Luck by Chance”), Aftab Shivadasani (“Kambakht Ishq”), Adhyayan Suman (“Raaz 2”), Viveik Oberoi (“Kurbaan”), Ranvir Shorey (“Chandni Chowk to China”), and those in the corresponding female category are Amrita Arora (“Kambakht Ishq”), Dia Mirza (“Kurbaan”), Deepika Padukone (“Chandni Chowk to China”), Kareena-Deepika-Priyanka (“Billu”) and Mona Singh (“3 Idiots”).

In the “worst film” category, the nominees are “Chandni Chowk to China”, “Blue”, “New York”, “Kambakht Ishq” and “What’s Your Rashee”. The “worst director” nominees are Nikhil Advani (“Kambakht Ishq”), Ashutosh Gowariker (“What’s Your Rashee”), Madhur Bhandarkar (“Jail”), Rohit Shetty (“All the Best”) and Sabbir Khan (“Kambakht Ishq”).
Keeping with the mood of awards, there are some interestingly titled categories, such as “Bawra Ho Gaya Hai ke Award” (roughly translated: “Have you Gone Bonkers award”), Special Awards, the Lajja Award for worst treatment of a serious issue, Dara Singh Award for worst accent, Black award for emotional blackmail, Insensitivity Award, and “Bas Kijiye Bahut Ho Gaya” Award (“Enough is Enough award”).
Instituted by humour magazine “Random,” the award show will have as its chief guest a-wisecrack-a-second VJ-actor Cyrus Broacha.
