Happy to come back from 0-2 down: Muller

Max Muller

“We are happy that we managed to come back from 0-2 down. We had lot of chances but were not lucky enough to score more goals. We are looking forward to getting better step by step,” he said.

Muller said his team had problems adjusting to the bounce of the poligras surface at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium. “I am not at all happy that we could convert only one of the six penalty corners. The bounce was a problem as we didn’t have much time to train on this pitch and get adjusted to it. It wasn’t easy to strike a good penalty corner. I won’t say I am unhappy with the surface because every team has to play on the same pitch,” he said.

Muller said the he was surprised by the goals the Koreans struck. “They always play a fast game but their goals surprised me. They weren’t faster than usual, but they were more effective today,” he said.

German coach Markus Weise said he wasn’t happy with the way his wards performed.
“It took a lot of hard work for us to come back after being 0-2 down. It was hard to score against a team that sits back deep and has the ability to launch fast counter-attacks,” a relieved Muller said.

Asked whether the Germans were under pressure, he replied in the negative.
“We have four more matches left in the pool and if we win those, we are in the semifinals,” the German  captain said.
