Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in a cheating case and recovered Rs 2 lakh in cash, a refrigerator and washing machine from him.

Bobby Philip, 37, a resident of Kadugodi, had posted an advertisement on OLX to sell his old car. Vikram Agarwal, a private firm employee, saw the advertisement and contacted Philip.

Agarwal took the car on test drive and appeared satisfied with its condition. He offered to buy the car. Philip demanded Rs 3 lakh upfront. Agarwal agreed and deposited the money in Philip’s account. But once he got the money, Philip switched off his cellphone and absconded.

Agarwal approached the police who arrested Philip later. Philip hails from Kerala and had moved to Benglauru four years ago for employment, police said.
