In a complaint lodged with the J C Nagar police station, Vijaya Kumar K (33) of S K Garden in Benson Town has alleged that one John Gabriel contacted him on his e-mail ID (ronaldvijay@gmail.com) last Friday offering the post of manager at Omni Hotel, said to be a reputed resort in Canada.

The offer, however, was not without riders, for obvious reasons. Later, one Susan Roland called him and asked to remit Rs 1,96,500 as commission charges in various ICICI Bank accounts.

Kumar was assured that once he made the payments, he would be sent to Canada and the accused would take care of the visa formalities.

All too pleased
Kumar was too pleased to oblige them willingly by depositing the said sum in bunches in four different accounts from February 3 to 23.

Unkempt promise
Nonetheless, when the promise was not kept and his attempts to contact them elicited no response, Kumar approached the police and lodged the complaint. A case under sections 420 and 34 of IPC has been registered and the police are investigating the matter.
