With ‘Kabali’ mania gripping everyone, how could Mysuru be far behind? The heritage city has joined the celebrations with fans thronging theatres on Friday to catch a glimpse of their ‘thalaiva’ superstar Rajinikanth.

Fans coming out of the theatres were beaming and sporting the dialogue ‘Kabali daa... Neruppu daa’. The film has been well-received by the fans, who said it was ‘pucca mass’.

With no films being released this week, a smart decision by other film makers, four single screens, Sangam, Rajkamal, Padma and Saraswathi, and multiplexes DRC (BM Habitat Mall) and Inox (Mall of Mysore) have been booked for the weekend.

The cinema halls wore a festive look with huge cutouts of the superstar and fans decorating them with garlands. They even booked the native drum beaters for the day, who went on a procession, egging the fans on to dance to the beat. A few of them even poured milk on the cutouts to show their devotion to the superstar.

Though the fans knew it was not possible to get a ticket on the release day, many had thronged the theatres with the hope of getting at least one ticket, even if it cost them a bomb.

The film, which released around 10 hours earlier in other countries, saw rave reviews pouring on Facebook and WhatsApp. Watching Rajinikanth on the screen itself was a celebration for the fans, who could not control their emotions, thanks to the hype created by the media.

Deepesh, who works for Infosys, said he could not sleep the whole night and was checking on the physical ticket every few minutes, with a fear of losing it. ‘Kabali daa...’, the dialogue uttered by the star in the film, has become a craze among his friends, he said.

A trailer of the film was circulated on WhatsApp, touted as the introduction scene. A few cars sported ‘Kabali’s’ nameplates, showing their love and admiration towards Rajinikanth. Mysuru City Rajinikanth Fans’ Association is said to have arranged breakfast for fans at Sangam Theatre.
