Teen thrashed

A 17-year-old boy who was caught red-handed while trying to make away with a mobile phone was thrashed in Nandini Layout 1st Block on Sunday morning.

According to the police, the complainant Nagaraj, a private firm employee, was sitting in his house on the second floor of a building. He noticed a boy walking into the house when the door was left open. He  took the mobile phone which was on the table. Nagaraj found the boy running down the stairs with the phone. He raised an alarm and the passersby chased the boy. They nabbed him and found the mobile phone in his hand. They beat him up and tied him to a pole and informed the Nandini Layout police. The police said that they visited the spot and detained the boy. He was taken to a private hospital and given first-aid as he had suffered bruises. The boy is school dropout and took to stealing to make quick money.

He was sent to the state-run juvenile home, said the police. A case has been registered in Nandini Layout police station. An investigation is on to check if the boy has any other cases registered against him.
