Mayor B L Bhyrappa postponed Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Council meeting to Friday after a difference of opinion erupted between the corporators in the meeting that was scheduled for Thursday.

The difference of opinion emerged between corporators over the action plan proposed by the Town Planning and Development Standing Committee to utilise Rs 25.50 crore that was earmarked for various development works under 14th Finance Commission.

JD(S) corporators Mahadevappa, Kempanna, Nataraju and opposition members Chennappa raised objections, stating that the committee has allocated funds for unnecessary works. They alleged that the committee has not taken them into confidence while preparing the action plan.

The Mayor adjourned the meeting for half an hour, for which Congress corporators objected severely. Congress corporators also staged a protest in the hall.

Opposition member G S Jagadish said, there are shortcomings in the action plan but it must be approved instead of postponing the meeting, But, the Mayor refused to agree and postponed the meeting, He said the plan will not be approved even if a few corporators raise objections.

Later, Corporator H N Srikantaiah called upon every member to give their go ahead and suggested the Mayor to approve the plan.

He said, the amount has been sanctioned three months ago and thus the works should not be delayed.
