The incident took place when the woman, a resident of neighbouring Deogarh district, was going to her work place, a private nursing home at Burla, with a relative on a motor cycle on Friday night, Inspector in-charge of Sadar police station K C Mishra said.
They were stopped near a river bridge by about six youths who came on three motor cycles, he said, adding that the boy accompanying her was overpowered and she was gangraped.
The boy raised an alarm and local residents informed the police but the criminals fled leaving behind a motor cycle, the inspector said.
Two persons were on Sunady detained for interrogation, while the police were confident of nabbing the culprits soon with the help of the seized motor cycle, he said.
