JOIN USThe Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is giving final touches to the GIS-based property identification (PID) details before putting it in public domain on August 15, 2016.
Information related to 16.09 lakh properties on the Palike website will be up for public scrutiny. Each property has already been given an identification number.
Details such as dimension of the plot, built-up area and the tax amount have also been added. The Internet-based software will throw up all the details at the click of a mouse on any particular property.
After the launch, the Palike will invite objections and suggestions from the public regarding property details. Once the deadline for receiving public response is over, the Palike will initiate the process of validation of properties.
BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad, who held a meeting with officials of the information technology cell and revenue department, directed them to put up details of every property before August 15.
He gave a stern warning to officials failing to abide by his instructions, said sources in the BBMP.
An officer associated with the project said, “It is one of the most ambitious projects of the BBMP. It will check undervaluation of property and defaulting property tax.”
BBMP has so far identified 16.09 lakh properties and there are about five to six lakh properties out of the tax purview.
The property identification details on the net will also help people identify properties, which have been spared from tax payment.
