Telangana, Andhra bounty for Sindhu

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments, which have been claiming shuttler PV Sindhu as their own, have announced several gifts for her and also for her coach Pullela Gopichand on Saturday.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao addressing a press conference here announced Rs 5 cr cash award for Sindhu and Rs 1 cr for Gopichand. The government is also offering a cash award of Rs 1 Cr to wrestler Sakshi Malik.

Sindhu was offered a job by the CM who wished that she stays in Telangana and tried to seal the deal with a 1000 square yards of plot here. The government is also planning for a memorable welcome for Sindhu when she arrives here on August 22 August.

Earlier, Andhra Pradesh state cabinet that met in Vijayawada announced Rs 3 cr cash award for Sindhu and Rs 50 lakh for Sakshi.

Gopichand will receive Rs 50 lakh cash award. Parents of Sindhu are natives of coastal AP.

Along with the cash award the AP government also offered a Group 1 level government job to Sindhu and a 1000 square yards plot in Amaravati. The government also decided to offer suitable site for a badminton academy in the capital region of Amaravati if Gopichand wishes to set up a facility there.
