ROHM Semicon unveils new product BLDC

ROHM Semiconductor, the Indian arm of Japan-based ROHM Group, on Tuesday launched its ‘Made in India’ BLDC (brushless DC) motors, which it claims to halve the power consumption of home appliances and industrial equipment.

These solutions, compared with the less expensive AC induction motor, are easy to control and around 50% more efficient, thereby reducing power consumption, a company statement said here. ROHM Semiconductor India Managing Director Daisuke Nakamura said with the government’s initiative towards BLDC ceiling fans, the company finds that all the ceiling fan manufacturers are trying to create a solution that is both efficient and cost effective.

“Most ceiling fan companies have R&D for electrical motors, but not so much R&D for electronics design, which eventually contributes to efficiency,” he said.
