Israeli drug peddler arrested in Goa

Atala alias Yaniv Behahim has been arrested under Section 41 of Criminal Procedure Code, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav told reporters here.

He said the drug peddler has been arrested to probe the CD in which he is seen admitting his links with police inspector Ashish Shirodkar.

Yadav said he would be handed over to the Crime Branch for further investigation in the matter, which includes five policemen.

Atala was arrested at a guest house at Morjim village, where he had reportedly checked in on Monday night. The Israeli was earlier arrested and deported in 2006. “We are also investigating how he managed to get back to the country,” Yadav said.
